Once upon a time, I started a series called “Things I’m loving lately”. And with Valentine’s Day, a.k.a. LOVE day, just around the corner, I figured it was an appropriate time for another installment.
So here goes …
Yesterday I woke up to a fresh blanket of fluffy white snow. It was overcast and quiet. The snow-covered branches masked the neighbours’ houses from view and there wasn’t a squirrel to be seen. I was struck by how incredibly peaceful it felt. Like the world was asleep.
Speaking of sleep …
My sweet baby girl slept eleven hours straight last night. (Cue angels singing! LOL)
Actually, she’s been sleeping really well lately in general. And while I fully recognize that this may just be a phase and don’t want to jinx it, in the meantime I’m soaking up every precious hour.
I think we sometimes forget how crucial the basics, like sleep, are to our wellbeing. See my whole series of posts about this starting here.
Local businesses getting creative for Valentine’s Day
I’ve seen a number of different businesses advertising what are essentially “date in a box” type packages like the ones above. The idea is to help us celebrate Valentine’s Day safely at home while still supporting local businesses, and I love it!
If you’re in my neck of the woods you can still take advantage of at least one of the above offers.
These two books:
You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero – I’ve read this one before. In fact, I believe this is my third go around. As far as self-development books go, this is a lot funnier and notably less scientific / systematic than many. The author clearly doesn’t take herself too seriously, which makes for an easy, enjoyable read. I always walk away feeling inspired, which is probably why I’ve kept coming back.
The Power of Moments by Chip and Dan Heath – This one is all about how to intentionally craft more memorable, or as the authors’ phrase it, “defining moments” in our lives. It really gets you thinking. Definitely worth a read, especially if you have that all too familiar feeling of every year somehow passing faster than the last.
I read both on my Libby Library App, which is another thing I’ve been loving. Though a hard copy book will probably always be my favorite, digital is simply a whole lot easier to manage when you’ve got a baby in one hand.
Which leads us to…
This little cutie pie:
Because how can you not? <3
How about you? What things have you been loving lately?
